Yes, in the West, Hiyashi Chuka (which translates to "chilled Chinese noodles") is often referred to as an Asian noodle salad or cold ramen salad. The base is always elastic ramen noodles, served ice-cold and enhanced with a sour-refreshing dressing.
Absolutely! Hiyashi Ramen is excellent as a light lunch for the office, picnics, or on the go. Our tip: Rinse the noodles thoroughly with ice-cold water after cooking and pack the dressing separately so that the noodles remain perfectly crisp until consumption.
In Japan there are no fixed rules, but the classics are: thinly sliced cucumbers, juicy tomato wedges, strips of thin egg omelet (Kinshi Tamago), and ham or chicken. For a vegan option, marinated tofu, sprouts, and pickled ginger (Beni Shoga) taste fantastic.
